Even if you are a devout Christian, this group of videos ought to at least give you some pause.
The first reaction most people would have to these at first glance might be something along the lines of, ‘Well, they’re too young to really understand what they’re talking about, so there’s no real harm done,’ which may or may not be true.
But honestly, is there really that much of a difference between these child evangelists and the adults who say the same things? One of the reasons that religion is such a scam is because of how dependent it is upon convincing you that there is so much more to it than meets the eye, that there is so much more ‘understanding’ available down the road if you just keep on praying/tithing/hoping/believing. But really, these kinds of videos help show not only how utterly craven religion is in brainwashing the next generation, but also how incredibly simplistic and, yes, even childish it is to believe that the universe is controlled by magical deities. There is no way these kids could get up in front of people and speak at an adult level about physics or biology. What does it say about Christianity, then, that these kids can sound just like adults when speaking about it?
There are many mysteries fundamental to our existence, including the nature of consciousness, or the definition of reality, or where the universe comes from and where is it going. Religion cannot offer any concrete answers to those questions, and maybe science never will, either. But who cares? This is perhaps the only instance in life where I’m glad to be ignorant, because it means we all have the freedom to live however we choose. If the universe really worked the way these children (and their parents) believe it to, we would all be residents of the greatest police state ever conceived, where even thoughts are recorded and judged by the central overseer (the really big brother). And I’ll not apologize for finding there to be nothing sacred or holy about that.
I just hope those kids can have some kind of normal life. I wouldn’t necessarily call those videos child abuse, but I do think these kids are going to have a lot to talk about with their therapists some day.
