Shelfari

I’m spending my Saturday putting my personal library (real paper books!) into Shelfari, a social network revolving around reading. You can visit my profile and see my shelf here. If you’re already a member, send me a friend request. If not, sign up and we can get a discussion about what we like to read and why going.

I’m very curious indeed to see what all of you have read or are reading now. Although I hope it doesn’t have the words “anarchist’s” or “cookbook” in the title.

To use a term I don’t usually use: Burnnnn. It wasn’t a bad movie, but the book isn’t exactly on my radar screen…

Wow, I had no idea there was an “Anarchist Cookbook” movie out there. Makes me wonder what other unlikely screen adaptations are on the way. How about a movie version of “vegan cupcakes take over the world?”

It’s not really an adaptation, it’s sort of a cheesy story about an anarchist “commune” (huh?) and a group of really stereotypical anarchists being cool, being uncool, being weird, being violent, and then one turning in the rest. It actually isn’t that good, come to think of it, but I have this way of ignoring crappy elements in movies and picking up on the one good thing (there was some interest in the main character) and then no one knows why I liked the movie.

And the funny thing is that you would find the words “anarchist” and “cookbook” on my bookshelf, just not on the same book.

I have cookbooks on my Shelfari. Please advise if this is acceptable to you. I don’t think any of them actually have the word “cookbook” in the title, so I think I might be safe. Certainly none of them have “anarchist’s” in the title, although I worry that some of the lentil soup recipes may be considered anarchic.

Jackie, please be aware that cookbooks which involve food are always acceptable to me. And lentils themselves are not anarchic, but the attendant digestive process may be.
