I’ve been suffering from a reversal of my sleep cycles recently that I just can’t seem to break out of for some reason. For instance, here it is 5:30 am and I am wide awake. Although I am putting this time to good use, as I am working on the next podcast, as well as surfing the net for frivolous things to look at.
Speaking of the podcast, I don’t think I’ll be doing another one off the cuff anytime soon, as I wasn’t too pleased with my last rambling effort along those lines. I should also warn you that the next one is going to be quite serious, and perhaps a bit depressing, although I don’t mean it to be that way. It’s just that it may not have a particularly happy ending, as often life itself does not have a particularly happy ending. Anyway, I don’t want to give away all the fun, so look out for that soon.
For the contributors, I’ll also have another video podcast out soon, either Friday or Saturday. I can’t do it today because I’ll be at my Jesus Job all day long. Drat!
So, here are some frivolous links that can take up some of your time today:
Satellite of Love - The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. This is oddly compelling; especially the vocalist, who is otherwise good but also seems to have some sort of blinking problem.
10 Reasons Why You Should Praise God. The contributors have seen part of this video before. But what I didn’t include was the part later on where she inserts a very non-religious song into the middle of her religious fervor. See if you can spot what it is.
George Lucas in Love. This one has been around for years, and I suspect most of you have already seen it. But if you haven’t, or you haven’t watched it in a while, it’s geekily worth another look. Just for the ending alone.
William Shatner Serenades George Lucas. More geeky stuff. The (somewhat awkward) meeting of two enormous geek icons would have to involve music. And dancing stormtroopers. The first time I saw this, I had an enormous geek-gasm.
REM on the Colbert Report. The last sort of big, popular rock group that I would consider myself to be a fan of is REM. But the main reason to watch this video is that Colbert is obviously a big fan, as well, and is in really fine form. It’s worth it just for the mandolin joke and Stephen’s giant stool. Seriously.
